Stylish, Name Brand Sneakers for Under $30????

Who ever said you have to pay over $30 for a quality pair of sneakers?  Yes name brand sneakers for the name brand conscious.  Yes stylish sneakers for the style conscious.

No, I’m not referring to a flea market or street vendor deal or an illegitimate transaction.  I’m talking about paying no more than $30 all day, any day, everyday for stylish, name brand sneakers at a physical store that offers cash, debit or credit card payment options along with a receipt for your purchase (on the front or back of which should be a return policy).

Did I hear you excitedly yelp “Whoo-hoo!!!??” and anxiously ask “Where might this store be!?”  I’ll tell you where in just a moment.

First, understand that unless you’re an athlete that does a lot of lateral movements and vertical jumps, like a basketball player; and/or you’re a jogger or a runner; and/or you do a lot of high intensity jump roping for extended periods of time; and/or you perform regular plyometric exercises; and/or you participate in high impact, very intense aerobic classes, you absolutely do NOT need to pay over $30 for a pair of sneakers you can get for less than $30!  Again, yes, they’re name brand and stylish!

If, however, you are involved with any of the above types of exercises then it would be in the best interest of your joints to spend the money necessary for a superior pair of sneakers or the best pair of sneakers you can find for your particular sport or fitness activities.

I recently purchased a pair of ASICS cross trainers.  Aaahhh!!!  Just the name alone relaxes my mind and my joints.   In fact, the acronym, ASICS, is from the Latin expression “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,” which means “A sound mind in a sound Body.”

As for actually working out in the sneakers, O-M-G!!  Now when I workout—jog/run, run up and down the stairs, jump rope, do plyometric exercises, seriously improvise in my aerobic classes when they get too unchallenging and boring—my feet, ankles, and knees rejoice during and most importantly after the workout and the endorphin rush.  How so?  The sneaker’s shock absorption is unbelievable!  They make me feel like I’m bouncing around on cushions instead of hard surfaces.

Oh, but sorry, they weren’t under $30.  I don’t believe they sell for less than $60.  And I doubt very seriously if you would be able to find a brand new, never-worn-before pair at any sports apparel store for under $30!  If you do, please share this information with me.

Anyway, this post is about spending less than $30 on sneakers that will NOT be used for the above types of workouts.  So, for example, if your workout consists of low impact exercises or exercises where you’re not putting any excessive stress on your joints—such as walking; certain aerobic class exercises; exercising on the elliptical machine or the stair climbing machine; doing spin classes or bike riding …—then pull out your $30!  Also, if you only need a good pair of walking around sneakers, not working out sneakers, again I say pull out your $30!

Pull out your $30 and head to the nearest $29.99 Shoe Warehouse in your area, if you’re so fortunate to have one in your neck of the woods.  Research and find out for yourself.
