Save Money on Your Unlimited Wireless Service With MetroPCS or Boost Mobile?

Recently I ended my cell phone service with AT&T because I wanted to, what else, save money!  I decided to go with a provider that offered an unlimited wireless service plan for everything—calls, text, internet—at a fixed monthly rate.  I had my eyes set on MetroPCS and Boost Mobile, even though Sprint and T-Mobile offer such plans.

Although I’d received great feedback from current users of Boost Mobile unlimited wireless service I decided to go with MetroPCS in my efforts to save money.  I’d used MetroPCS before with no problems (other than not being able to make/receive calls outside of a certain area).  In fact, my first, real cell phone was a MetroPCS phone.  It will also be my last MetroPCS phone.

A little over 24 hours after I started my recent unlimited wireless service with MetroPCS they sent me a text stating that there had been a change to my account.  Instead of the “$40, period” that their ads and commercials boast and even guarantee my monthly rate was increased to $45 per month.  Again, this account change occurred shortly after 24 hours of having service that I chose over Boost Mobile because I thought I would be able to save money.

The unlimited wireless service plan for Boost Mobile is $50.  So, I would have saved $10 had not MetroPCS pulled their stupid and unscrupulous stunt.  I figured, if they would raise my rate in a little over 24 hours after I received my service why should I believe that they won’t raise my rate again?  Then I’d be paying just as much for their service as I would be for Boost Mobile service.  Suffice to say I would fail to save money if this happened.

Whether MetroPCS would do the above or not, because they flat out lied about their unlimited wireless service rate I immediately returned the phone and cancelled my service.  (Thank God their refund policy is legit!) I understand now why Boost Mobile has the slogan “unwronged” in response to the previous MetroPCS slogan “unlimit yourself.”  MetroPCS is beyond wrong to claim that their service is $40 a month and then not even give customers at least a month of service at this rate before raising the price.  I literally had my phone for less than 30 hours before they raised my rate without providing any explanation whatsoever for so doing.  Consequently, I’m now giving Boost Mobile an opportunity to help me save money on my unlimited wireless service.
